GRATITUDE NEEDS TO BE GIVEN
I know Thanksgiving is well over a week ago now. But, let’s talk about gratitude a bit more.
There is something about gratitude that leads to expressing it, giving it away.
It is not enough to simply feel grateful, or to have grateful thoughts, gratitude, real gratitude turns into action. For example, if you are thankful for someone or something someone has done, the next step is to tell them.
Two months ago, for some reason, I remembered my friend Jim Spivey. Jim and I served in the military together. In fact, we were in basic training together at Fort Bragg, almost 50 years ago, then reconnected after Jim transferred from Artillery to the Chaplain Corps. Jim eventually became Deputy Chief of Chaplains. We spent a good bit of time together through the years. He is an amazing man — served as a Seminary Professor, is currently serving as a Pastor in a church in Fort Worth.
I had this grateful thought about Jim and wrote an email to express it. We reconnected.
For whom are you grateful. Wrap that present up and go ahead and give it. Take effective action with it.
