THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORM

Some things in life are learned by “going through the storms”, aren’t they?

The hard classes in school, the big exams, the difficult assignments at work, even the mean bosses — they all forge us into the persons we have become. Life is not always easy sailing. There are storms and there will likely be many more in the days ahead.

I work with people who are navigating storms in their life. They don’t like the storms. They don’t life life’s messiness, the difficulty getting to the other side. They don’t like the often steep climb to get to the other side. They don’t like swimming against the current.

But, as we walk alongside each other, they find new strength, new capacity, new abilities they didn’t have before they moved through that storm. Now, of course, some storms are bigger than we are. That’s why is so helpful to not do the storms alone, to have others with us, helping us to trim the sails, pull on the oars, give us extra support, help us navigate our way through to the other side.
