FEAR, A COMPASS
Compasses point in a certain direction, magnetic north. They have a purpose, to help us with directions for our journey.
It doesn’t do much good to look at a compass, see what direction it is pointing, and say, “I don’t think I will pay any attention to you.”
The same with this emotion we call “fear”. As the quote suggests, fear has a purpose, to help us with directions for our journey, just like the compass. We can pay attention to the fears we feel, or we can ignore them, deny them, suppress them.
Sometimes it is good to fight, flee or freeze for a time in life. Fear can do that. Sometimes it is better to face our fear, learn from it, and decide what to do with what it is telling us.
