KEEP GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION

I know. Sometimes a change in direction is the right thing to do.

But, sometimes it is not. Sometimes we are just chasing rabbits. Sometimes it gets tougher and tougher as we plod forward in life toward our goals. Sometimes it is just another shiny object that has seduced us. Sometimes we need to stay the course, keep going in the same direction.

Graduating from college was one of those goals that was worth slogging forward for those four years. Our sons took a little bit longer, but are glad they kept going to the completion of the goal.

Although it was one big loop that changed directions constantly throughout the city of Houston, I kept going to the 26.2 mile marker at the end and am glad I did. It hurt. I wanted to drop out, sit down, stop running. But, the finish line kept drawing me forward.

One of the signs along the way read, “Put your left foot forward. Put your right foot forward. Repeat.” And I did. I learned something about doing the impossible that day that has led me to do many more impossible things since.

Get your “why” clear in your mind. Set some specific goals for your life. Plot a course. There may be rough seas. Make course corrections as needed, but keep going till you get there.
