PESSIMISM, OPTIMISM, AND REALISIM

A pessimist sees a dark tunnel.
An optimist sees light at the end of the tunnel.
A realist sees a freight train.
A train driver sees three idiots standing on the tracks.

A recent article in Positive Psychology, noted:

“While studies have often reported better outcomes from optimists versus pessimists (Scheier, Carver, & Bridges, 1994), more recent research has also addressed the role of a realistic mindset, in which expectations are based in reality versus fantasy or illusion.” (PositivePsychology.com)

Which are you? More pessimistic? More optimistic? Or more realistic?

Each has its place.
