DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO YOU?
It may seem wrong, but think about it. To whom do you listen?
I am thinking about Jim, a good friend from my military days. Jim was a good listener. Jim cared about me, showed interest in me. Now, Jim was a brilliant man, a Ph.D., with a keen mind. I listened when Jim spoke. But, he was careful how much he spoke. It wasn’t all about Jim. He asked a lot of good questions. He was careful with his advice giving. He didn’t go on and on and on. We enjoyed well-balanced conversations.
I learned a lot from Jim.
