GRATEFUL EVERY DAY
“I thank God for every free day,” said Denise, who has been retired for about 10 years now. She had a good job and actually enjoyed her working years.
She is one of many who do very well in retirement and she realizes this. A nice thing about this chapter in our lives is we get to do what we want when we want. Denise has been able to travel and see her family regularly, specially her grandchildren. She plays bridge with a group of friends every week. She stays active, getting out for a walk each morning, working in her yard, eating wisely.
Denise knows her neighbors, keeps up with her friends, has learned how to use the computer and smartphone, volunteers at her church.
She realizes life is getting shorter and that this chapter of life has an end, a last page, which is coming one day. She is focused and deliberate about how she spends every day. At night, when she turns out the light, even though she has some aches and pains, Denise has a smile on her face.
